A New Season of Growth in the Philippines
At Disciple Makers Increase (DMI), we are witnessing a remarkable move of God in the Philippines. While we have long trained leaders from this beautiful nation through our online courses. We are now seeing a powerful momentum that is leading to real, on-the-ground multiplication. For the first time, we recently hosted a scouting trip for a future onsite training in the Philippines. Our goal was to equip local leaders and support the blossoming Disciple Making Movements (DMMs).
The Power of a Simple Approach
For several years, Filipinos have been the largest group from Southeast Asia to join our Disciple Making Movement (DMM) course. Their eagerness to apply DMM principles and see movements launched in their communities was a strong indicator that the Philippines was a strategic location for DMI. We are now seeing the fruit of this initial interest.
Consider Pastor C., one of our faithful alumni, who has started 21 DBS (Discovery Bible Study) groups with young people. This effort has already multiplied to the third generation. His story is particularly inspiring because he initially faced criticism from other pastors who were used to a more traditional approach. But as they witnessed the generational growth from his simple method of discipleship, they are now approaching him to learn what he is doing to reach the lost.
There are so many examples of what God is able to do through disciple makers. Another compelling example is Pastor R, who has already established 100 first-generation house churches. He is now seeking our training to help his network transition to generational growth, ensuring these new believers can also become disciple-makers. We are also excited about a young couple, B. and A., who have started a simple church right in their own community. These passionate brothers and sisters in Christ are taking the Great Commission and running with it. They have caught the vision that God has given to make disciples, and they are welcoming others into the journey. Yes, pastors are disciple makers, but we are all called. People around the world are taking up the call and accepting the invitation to be a part of spreading God’s Kingdom to the ends of the Earth.
A Communal and Passionate People
One unique aspect we are noticing about the DMMs in the Philippines is the communal nature of the people. God is using pastors and leaders to mobilize their entire church communities to engage in discipleship multiplication. This is a significant shift, transforming churches from institutions into active hubs of mission. The Filipinos are taking the Great Commission and obeying it within and outside the church walls. This makes the growth potential truly explosive.
Our Recent Onsite Training: Catalyzing the Movement
To support and accelerate this growth, DMI will hold its first onsite training in the Philippines in May 2026. This training will bring together approximately 100 mission leaders and pastors who are eager to be equipped to start movements of disciples. Running an on-site training in a new location requires a few key elements:
- Committed People: Leaders like Pastor C. who are faithful and fruitful in their own efforts.
- Ready Trainees: Individuals who grasp the Great Commission and are ready to use the DMM approach to reach the lost.
- Financial Support: We need financial partners to help subsidize the costs of the training, although the local team and attendees are committed to covering at least half of the expenses.
- Prayer Support: The work that we are doing and that these leaders in the Philippines are doing is significant. It must be supported by much prayer.
Our trainings are not just another seminar; they are a strategic investment in the future of the Kingdom of God in the Philippines. On-site training is a chance for us to meet, fellowship, encourage one another, pray for one another, and model principles to further train our students. They are a catalyst for more progress. We hope to see communities transformed through this work, witnessing not only spiritual growth but also tangible healing, life transformation, and freedom from addictions.
Please Join Us in Prayer
The Philippines consists of more than 7,000 islands, and it is home to many Frontier People Groups (FPGs) and Unengaged, Unreached People Groups (UUPGs) who have yet to hear the Gospel. According to the Joshua Project, there are 29 Unreached People Groups and 9 Frontier People Groups in the Philippines. Through prayer and faithfulness, we will be able to see movements launched among them.
Please join us in praying that we can effectively reach these unreached people groups through Disciple Making Movements. Pray for the upcoming onsite training in May 2026, for the leaders and pastors who will be trained, and for the resources needed to continue this vital work.
