DMI Global Gathering Day 2 Report: Celebration & Thanksgiving

The theme for day two of the DMI Global Gathering was celebration and thanksgiving. As we looked back, we rejoiced at what God has done through DMI’s efforts around the world. The day began with much celebration in worship led by our joint Kenya/Nigeria team.

6 days of Silent Obedience Before the Walls Fell

We then had a powerful message from our DMI Africa leader, Daniel Kuje. He spoke from Joshua 6, reminding us that before the shouting, there was silence. Before the breakthrough, there was persistence. Listen to Daniel’s message on our YouTube channel.

Telling the DMI Story and History

We then had a panel interview where the original DMI founders sat and told the story of how DMI began. The deep friendships and relationships of the DMI leadership team were evident. DMI was formed by a group of close friends pursuing God’s kingdom together. Starting during the pandemic, DMI began with a group of Americans stuck in their home country who had all served overseas for many years. A year later, a couple from South Asia joined the team, and it was not long before key African leaders also became part of the leadership.

Humble beginnings, during COVID-19, led to a movement that is now rapidly accelerating globally. Faith for great things characterized DMI from the start, as well as a deep commitment to unity, family, and believing God for the impossible.

Discovery Bible Study

Each day of the gathering, we spent time in the Word of God together using the Discovery Bible Study approach. This drew us close to God and to one another as we discovered what God was saying to us from Scripture.

Simple Coach Training with Kevin Sutter

After lunch on Days 2 and 3, Kevin invited those who wanted to learn more about coaching leaders in their movements to attend a one-hour coach training.

One brother commented, “Marriage wouldn’t be so boring if I learned to ask open-ended questions of my wife!” Everyone laughed but also realized that these simple skills applied not only to movements but to life!

Kevin also released a free e-copy of his book to the gathering’s participants, Adventures in Disciple-Making, with Stephanas, a First-century Disciple Unlocking Movements.

Awards Given

Next in our program was a time of giving special awards to well-deserving individuals. For security reasons, those names will not be made public, but this is a list of the awards that were given.

  • Onsite Trainer Extraordinare Award
  • Crossing Borders Award
  • 2 Timothy 2:2 Releasing Leaders Award
  • Perseverance under Fire Award
  • Impact with Integrity Award
  • Faithful Follow-Up Award
  • Unsung Hero Award

DMI Values 1 & 2

Lively discussions and feedback took place as participants talked about what these values meant for their context.

More Celebration, Singing, and Dancing

We ended our day with participatory singing, dancing, and praise to God for all He has done among us! To God be the glory!
